Birthday Banner Tutorial

You may remember a Christmas banner I created using some of CutCardStock.com's elegant white and cream card stocks. It's here. A friend of mine saw it and said, "How about a birthday banner? I have a plastic one that the kids make me put up every birthday. I'd rather have something like this." So, that's what I did this week.

I began by choosing coordinating Basis 80# card stocks that would be good for girl or boy birthdays. They included: Light Yellow, Olive, Golden Green, Aqua and Teal.

Here's how you do it. Cut enough flags and tags for Happy Birthday.
Using Cricut, cut letters and their outlines from contrasting papers.
Also cut the scalloped ovals for the latter mats. I used double-sided cardstock, folded the paper in half  and cut through 2 layers. This way I could mix up the patterned ovals as seen below.
Layer the flags with silk flowers, rhinestones and glitter glue. I used dimensional adhesive to give the letters some pop.  You'll need drying time for the glitter on the flags and flowers.
Tie the corners together with ribbon.
String it all together and add longer ribbons on the ends. Hang it up any time your family has a birthday.
