2-4-6-8 for Teachers We Appreciate!

Like Katherine mentioned in the previous post, it's getting to be that time of year when school is winding down and we're looking for ways to show our appreciation to the teachers and staff.  I enjoy sending treats into school - either bought candy type treats or homemade.  A quick and easy way to make packaging is to create these 2-4-6-8 boxes.

Supplies needed:
CutCardStock Basis cardstock in Red
coordination school-themed paper
red line sticky tape (super adhesive, so it's great to use on boxes)
scissors
baker's twine
scoring tool (I love using Martha Stewart's scoring board and a stylus)

Steps:
Cut the red cardstock to 8 1/2 x 8 1/2.  On one edge, score long folds at 2", 4", 6" and 8". (If you didn't know why, now you see where the name comes from.... and you thought I was just practicing my cheerleading skills!)
On the other edge, score one time at the 2" line.
On the short end (left side in the the picture above), cut on the lines, meeting up to the intersecting line.  Cut off the little tab that is left from the extra 1/2 inch at the end.  This creates the flaps for the bottom of the box.
Fold on all your score lines to be able to assemble the box.  On the long edge, apply the sticky red tape to the outside of the "tab" (that extra 1/2" piece of cardstock) then overlap that tab and stick together to create the box shape.  Fold in all the tabs on the bottom and add some red sticky tape to the last flap to keep it closed.
At the open end, gently push in on the two sides and press together to create inner side folds.
Punch a couple of holes through all the layers.  This will let you tie it closed with the baker's twine.
Add the circle tag punched from the themed paper and tie it all together.  You may want to fill it with your treats first :) Enjoy!
