Halloween Treats

Halloween seems to be the holiday for candy!  Or maybe it's just the harbinger of the candy-eating holiday season?  No matter how you look at it, there's a big bag o' candy for the little ones who scurry door-to-door on Halloween night.

This card celebrates the sweet treats of the jack-o-lantern season, with its Pixie Stick flag welcoming the scariest of nights above a row of whimsical witch's hats.  This card is 4" x 9.25" and fits inside CutCardStock's Brown Bag Kraft String and Button No. 10 envelope, which is the reason I made it.  I LOVE these envelopes!

I started out with a 4" x 9.25" piece of Neenah Classic Crest card stock as my base.  Then I chose two patterned papers from Fancy Pants' 6 x 6 paper pad called "Oct 31".  The length of this card made it perfect for my favorite ribbon treatment:
Punch two holes about 1" front top and bottom of card and slip a length of ribbon through the front of the card.
Then bring the ends back through the holes toward the front of the card.  Snip the ends diagonally as shown.
Next I stamped orange and purple candies from the Fresh Squeezed Stamps set called "Christmas Treats".  Now, clearly, this isn't a Christmas card, but the sweet images are quite versatile and are perfect for any candy-filled occasion!  I inked each candy image (there are two), one in orange and the other in purple.
I then stamped the apothecary jar in black over the candy images, trimmed out the candy-filled jar, and adhered it into the orange section of my card with foam tape.  Then I stamped part of the sentiment "Sweetest wishes for the happiest of holidays" below the candy jar.  For a little extra spunk, I inked up the holly berries from the Christmas Treats set in purple and scattered them about!
To create the flag greeting on the paper straw, which I think looks like an old fashioned Pixie Stick, I printed "Happy Halloween" onto another piece of patterned paper from the "Oct 31" collection, trimmed it to 1" width, and then wrapped it around the piece of paper straw.  I inked the edges with black ink for a "grungier" look.  But, it needed a little bling, so I added three lavender rhinestones below the sentiment.
And here's the best part, the String and Button envelope!  I used VersaMark ink on the gumdrop image from Fresh Squeezed Stamps' "Christmas Treats" set and scattered them over the front -- it creates a tone-on-tone look that belies the colorful card inside!
