Happy Fall Y'all! That's how we say it in Texas, though we don't really have a Fall season here. We go from insanely, crazy hot to just hot. It's 90 F today and it feels like a cold front, so it's time to break out the pumpkins!
I made you this darling card to show you two things: how beautifully Neenah cardstock works with Copic markers and how to customize your envelopes with liners to match your cards.
Neenah Magic
Copic markers work best with a paper that has a smooth surface and tight paper fibers. I've tried just about all the varieties of paper out there, and hands down, Neenah is my favorite.
Most Copic marker officiators will tell you they like Neenah Classic Crest Solar White because its bright white is so vibrant. But, what if you background paper isn't white? A bright white can clash with your ivory or cream background.
I used the Baronial Ivory flavor of Neenah Classic Crest Cardstock to color this little doll. (The pumpkin and her outfit are paper pieced.) The cardstock already had a lovely hint of yellow to it, and it matched the background of my pattern paper. With very light tones in the E Copic family (E0000 and E000), I got a sweet little face.
All orange, brown and gold cardstocks are on sale this month. I'm crazy about this new-to-me 65-pound Pop Tones cardstock. It's just a little lighter than most cardstocks. It's still sturdy, but its lighter weight makes it perfect for making envelopes. It's more pliable and less bulky. That luscious Hot Fudge is on Sale people!
You'll need the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to make your envelope and envelope liner. The paper and score sizes for an A2 envelope to fit a 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches are not included among the card sizes labeled on the front of the tool, so here they. Make you paper 8 inches by 8 inches and make your first score line at 4-1/4 inches.
Envelope Liners
These instructions will work for any size envelope.1. We need to figure out the size of our liner. Working with the top flap of your un-assembled envelope, measure from the center point of the top rounded corner, down to the center of the right-punched curve below it.
For my A2 size envelope, the measurement is 4-3/8 inches.
That means my liner will be 4-3/8 inches by 4-3/8 inches. I used a bright teal paper just for demonstration purposes. I suggest you make a test piece before you commit your pattern paper.
2. To calculate where to punch, just deduct 1/8 inch from the width of your liner. So, I made my first punch at 4-1/4 inches.
3. Flip the liner over to the opposite corner and make a second punch at the same measurement (4-1/4 inches for my A2 card).
4. Use the corner rounder at the top of the Envelope Punch Board for the top curve of your liner.
And now you have the perfect liner for your envelope.
Assemble your envelope and liner with a strong adhesive like Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, and you're ready to rock.

ReplyDeleteGreat post today and [wonderful] tips on paper choices. I like Neenah card stock too. I have found that papers like X-Press Blending cause my Copics to transfer a sticky film that ruins the piece I'm working on ... and transfers to the next pen I use. I've had to clean the pens with the 70/90% alcohol to remove it. Neenah doesn't do that. I wasn't familiar with this paper company, but I'll certainly order from them now.
