Winter Themed Place Cards

Hi everyone... December is flying by like a blur (as usual). Today's project will definitely put you in the mood for snow. I have been dying to work with Epsom Salt for a while now and this winter theme this month is the perfect time. I found some recipes where you boil the salt, and then paint the concoction onto your paper. It forms some small crystals when it dries, and gives you a shimmer/snow effect. I tried it and it was WAY too subtle. I decided to just use the salt in its raw form and I couldn't be more pleased with how these turned out.

These place cards are perfect for a winter wedding, or a holiday party you might be hosting. Definitely festive and will only add to your decor!

What you'll need:
- Epsom Salt
- Glue
- Snowflake rubber stamps or other embellishments
- Stardream Place Cards from CutCardStock (love the shimmer on these!)
- Sakura Pigma Black Calligraphy Pen (Optional)

You can use rhinestones, washi tape, patterned paper, etc. to decorate your place cards. I chose snowflakes again because its also ties in to this month's theme. I also like the way the stamps look as they bleed OFF the stock. The stardream place cards are nice and thick, durable and have just the right amount of shimmer. These are Opal. I think darker place cards with the salt will look even nicer than the color I selected.

Go ahead and embellish, add glue to either the spine OR the bottom of the front flap, and then add your epsom salt. Shake off the excess, and then fold. I like to wait until I have the salt and the embellishments on first before I letter the name. This is just to make sure its done neatly and centered, but you can also do it beforehand if it feels easier to you.

**BONUS** Do you have a color theme that you'd like to stick to? Perhaps you'd like to infuse a little color into your "snow" just for some variety when you display your cards. Its super easy. Just take a chalk stick and crunch it into the salt until some of the dust is distributed throughout the mixture. You can do this in a bowl too, but I just like to attack baby piles...

Voila! You are done.... These look so pretty on a display table with other winter decor. You can also take it a step further and display your cards on a bed of epsom salt. Make sure you get rid of the debris during the gluing/shaking process in order to reduce the shedding of the salt.

Take care til' next time and have WONDERFUL holidays!
