Easy Ombre Glitter Card Set

Handmade card sets can be an easy and inexpensive gift idea for loved ones who appreciate that homespun look.  And with glitter paper from CutCardStock, you can add lots of interest to a simple design, making replication a cinch.

Start by trimming Opulent Opal Cardstock into several panels measuring 4.25" x 5.5".  Then, add bright springtime colors to the panels using alcohol ink.  Here, I've created rainbow and ombré patterns with Copic markers and an airbrush system, but you can easily color directly onto the panels with markers as well.

Because I wanted the sparkly colored background to be the main focus of the card, I chose to leave my overlay patterns a simple white.  To complement the shine and texture of the background, however, I die-cut four intricate background designs from Classic Linen White Pearl Cardstock.  Floral patterns are a good choice for handmade card sets because they can be used for so many occasions.

Die-cut a couple of different sentiments from Pow Black Glitter Paper.  Since I send mostly "thank you" and "thinking of you" cards, I like to use these more generic sentiments when I give cards as a gift.

Adhere the Classic Linen White Pearl panels to the inked glitter paper backgrounds with a strong dry adhesive like glue dots or Score-Tape.  Then wrap a short length of White Satin Edge Organza Ribbon around each panel about a third of the way up from the bottom and adhere on the back with tape runner.

Next, cut two sheets of 110lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock in half to yield four pieces measuring 5.5" x 8.5" and score them down the center.

Adhere the colorful panels to the cardbases with tape runner and add your sentiments using liquid glue.  When I'm making more than one background design for a set, I alternate the sentiments between them to give my recipient more options.

I left my cards clean and simple, but you can also embellish them with pearls, gems, or sequins if desired.

Here's a closer look at that texture and sparkle!  I hope you enjoyed these easy ombré card designs and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that glitter paper is on sale this month!

  1. Hi Annie,
I LOVE these cards.... I ordered some of the glitter paper and can't wait to get it😊! I'm wondering what kind of dies you used for the overlay, I haven't seen them before and think they are great. Thank you!,
