Faux Tin Can Lanterns

I have always admired the tin can lanterns found at craft fairs and have wanted to make my own. I just haven't attempted it until now, or at least a paper version of them.

I used a sheet of Bright Foil Cardstock in Silver. It is a nice heavy cardstock that with stand up when formed into a cylinder.

I started by die cutting and punching out butterflies of various shapes and sizes.

I traced the butterflies onto the back of the cardstock. Then I used my xatco knife to cut out the butterflies. I did not cut the bodies, so I could fold the wings out.

I applied a strip of Score-Tape to one edge of the cardstock and carefully rolled it to create a cylinder.

I placed the cylinders over battery operated tea lights (I don't want to create a fire hazard).

Now I can use these outside when entertaining this summer.

They could be used for weddings, holidays, anniversaries, and so many others. The possibilities are endless.
