Be a Star

There are many reasons we send cards.  I love the fact that a card can be uplifting and let people know that someone is thinking about them.  An encouraging note can make all the difference.  My project today is all about doing your best --and lots of glitter.

I'm using some Gold Glitter 74lb. cardstock and adhering the back to a piece of Stick-It adhesive, cutting off the excess.  I will be die cutting my cardstock with a very intricate star die cut and want to have the adhesive on the back ahead of time.

All you do is run your die cut through your machine the regular way and peel off the backing to reveal the adhesive.  This is great if you want to avoid a messy glue situation.

I want to create a light galaxy background for my stars, so I blend some Distress Oxide inks onto a white card panel made from Cougar White Super Smooth cardstock.

I add a little bit of sheer shimmer spray in a light gold color.  The moisture adds a nice shimmer but also cuts through the ink to create the illusion of more stars in the distance.

I heat emboss my sentiment onto some Curious Translucent Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Ink and clear embossing powder.  This heavy vellum is perfect when you want a little bit of a see-through element without having the paper warp with the heat.  I add some extra stars from my die cut with foam tape to highlight the sentiment.

I assemble everything onto the blended panel and add another panel underneath with POW! Black Glitter Paper.  The entire piece is adhered to a 4.25"x 5.5" notecard made from Cougar White Super Smooth cardstock.

Thanks so much for joining me today and be sure to head over to the CutCardstock store to see their huge variety of glitter paper.  Have a great day!
